Just Do It

May 22, 2019

Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,

It seems every day brings more and more events and projects. Our to-do list just grows and grows. Our new Parish Council met last night and one of the first statements made was the fact that we do a lot of talking, but don’t seem to get a lot done. One of the great struggles of working with a committee is the seemingly never-ending meetings and discussions and compromises and changes that are made trying to make everyone happy. Sometimes it is just so much easier to just go ahead and do it, and face the consequences later. Recently I have been working on a list of projects and ministries that have been talked about and suggested, but either never begun or begun but not finished. So, I am starting a “Just Do It” ministry. I am going to be asking for volunteers for different ministries and projects. If you are interested in joining in and helping to get some of these items checked off the list, just let me know. I will create sign-up sheets for some, but some I will just ask people to contact me and I will give you the info and you can get started.

  • One on-going project is a team of cleaners. This is a large plant and just too much for Br. Terry and Terrance to keep up with. We have a great team that does the church. I would like another team to address other areas. What I have in mind is doing a deeper level clean than just sweeping up. In some areas it will involve throwing out the accumulated junk.
  • I am looking for a small group that will work with our college students, which may involve organizing some events for them, as well as, organizing the Sponsor Program.
  • We are building an Evangelization Ministry, and so we need some organizers for this, who will keep us on track. These people need to be able to gather others and plan events and different ways we can reach out to the community. They will need to think about ways we can spread news about “The Rock.”
  • We have other ministries that need to be rebooted: Project Nehemiah, Family Life ministries, health ministries, HIV-AIDS, etc.

If you are interested in any of these, please email me or speak with a Parish Council member and let’s get out in the Vineyard and start proclaiming the Good News.

In the Redeemer,

Fr. Rick

P.S. There has been a scam email/text going out to people saying that I need you to buy me gift cards. Please do not fall for these types of scams, no matter who it is for. If your loved ones need help they will not do it through a text or email. Always check into things before spending any money or giving any information.
