Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,
Happy Mother's Day!
May The Creator of all of us pour out bountiful blessings upon the mothers of each of us. And may those blessings be given to biological mothers, adoptive mothers, foster mothers, and the men who had to be both father & mother, as well as, those who simply mothered the children of the village. Our mothers sacrificed much, so that we could be the people we are today. We may not always say it, but on this special day, let us show our gratitude and love to them, and have a happy and blessed Mother's Day.
On a different note.
The final thing Jesus said to His disciples was to give them "The Great Commission." This assignment was to go forth and make disciples of all nations. That may be a bit beyond us, at least for the moment, but as the old saying goes, "You gotta start somewhere." We do a lot of things that help in the work of evangelization, but one thing that we haven't done in a while is to hit the road (or in our case, the sidewalk) and knock on a few doors. So on Saturday, June 6th, that is exactly what we are going to do. We are going to gather in the morning for mass at 9:30 and then gather in the gym for some instructions, and a bit of caffeine and sugar. We will get our block assignments and go forth 2 by 2. We will have door hangers to place on people's doors, as well as some packets to give out if people want more information.
I hope you can participate in this wonderful effort to share our faith and some of the ministries that we do here at The Rock. The more people who come, the more area we will be able to cover. We hope to finish by 12:00 or 12:30, and then come back to the gym for a light lunch. If you do not feel up to walking, we will need help in the gym making coffee and preparing lunch, so everyone's gifts can be used in this effort to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the Redeemer,
